Spare Key: Share House Mystery

You move into Ivy House, a city share house with six housemates and one very strict house manager. That night, something heavy hits the bottom of the outside stairs. In the morning, Sayo is dead, the police call it a fall, and the spare key is missing from its hook.

Spare Key is a mystery visual novel in six episodes. Every episode brings a new incident in the house, and every one of them pulls on the same thread: what really happened on the stairs, and what happened to Rin, the girl who lived in your room before you.

How it plays

• Search the house for clues: drag each room sideways and click anything that looks wrong
• Talk to your housemates; your choices stay with them
• Testimony: when someone's story doesn't add up, press each line for more, then present the evidence that breaks it
• Keys: wrong guesses cost one of your three keys. Keep all three for three stars
• House meeting: each episode ends with putting the night back in order and naming who did it

Controls (PC)

• Mouse: click to turn the lines and pick answers; drag a room to look around.
• Space / Enter: turn the line, or take a card's button ("Go on", "Continue"). Enter also starts and resumes.
• Esc: pause / back. On the title it asks before quitting.

The itch.io version

• No ads. No in-app purchases. The full game, once.
• The Hint (90-second cooldown), Rin's diary pages and one second chance per chapter are free.
• Double coins is gone, so coins stay at their earned rate.
• A 540x960 portrait window that can be resized.

Linux requires libcurl.so.4 in addition to a working graphics driver.
